Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."

Beneath
It can be a challenging decision to choose between color or black and white photography, especially when a landscape pulls at your emotions. While color can vividly express the beauty of a scene, black and white often brings out the raw power of light and shadow, capturing the essence of nature in a unique way.
Although humans see reality in color - for me, black and white captures the image's deeper truth and reveals its most hidden meaning...

Mount Shasta

Mount Shasta, a potentially active stratovolcano, stands majestically at 14,179 feet, making it the fifth highest peak in California. Nestled in the southern Cascade Range of Siskiyou County, it offers breathtaking views and captivating climbs. My adventure on this mountain was part of my journey to follow in the footsteps of John Muir, aiming to connect with the spirit of nature he so passionately described. Alongside Mount Whitney, these climbs were not just physical challenges but a profound embrace of the wild beauty that surrounds us.

In 2021 the Caldor fire ravaged parts of northern California

These images are just a few photos I took during the fire. My eye was not drawn to the flames, but the amber glow reflecting on the landscape. The smoke was suffocating, and I could only stand outside my vehicle for brief moments to photograph the devastation.
